COVID-19 UPDATE (27/04/2020)

As the risk of COVID-19 infection in our community has decreased, the AHPPC has advocated a “step back” to level 2 restrictions for dentistry.

That means in addition to emergency work we can now provide a range of routine dental procedures including:

• General examination
• Cleaning of teeth with hand scalers, please note ultrasonic scalers and prophylaxis(polishing) is not yet allowed
• Fillings and other restorative work under rubber dam
• Dentures
• Orthodontic treatment
• Simple tooth removal
• Splint for temporomandibular joint problems

Procedures that do not generate aerosol can be undertaken. Additional infection control precautions such as the use of alcohol hand sanitisers, extra time in booking schedules, environmental cleaning etc. still remain in place.
